The work is inspired by debates and studies of cosmologists on the "dark matter" and its hypothetical existence. Almost 90% of the matter of the universe is supposed to be dark matter, in other words particles not directly observable since they do not emit electromagnetic radiation but that have gravitational effects enough to be part of the creation and of the evolution of the universe.
The infinitesimally small particles of dark matter are represented by pieces of coal. The light, that according to experts is not able to cross it and it’s diverted, in this case projects the shadow of a human figure that symbolically assumes the value of a small universe which evolves and changes. Butterflies are a metaphor of this evolution: just as our universe is constantly changing, they also go through several stages before reaching the final stage of a butterfly.
