acupuncture needles on walls_2015 on going
healing interventions for domestic wounds is an intervention in which I pose some acupuncture needles on the surfaces of a domestic space, following its “wounds”, the intersections between an inside and an outside, the traces of life of its inhabitants and the signs of a "beyond" that makes itself visible through the porous irregularity of the wall.
An act of govern of the domestic space, "healing interventions for domestic wounds" starts from a gesture of care –as such invisible and rendered subordinate by history– to transform it into a performative moment.
Specifically conceived for each place, the interventions are shaped differently and consist of two following steps: the posing of the needles –happening as a performance in front of the audience– and the final result –which inhabits the space as a permanent or temporary installation.
The duration of the interventions also vary, accordingly with the size of “wound”, the needs and desires of the host and my own relationship with the place.
Together with UNTITLED# and Catalogo ragionato di escoriazioni sensibili, healing interventions for domestic wounds is part of my "Trilogy of skin", where I inquire the analogy skin/wall as a way to extend the body outside its boundaries and create a sense of belonging through the physical re-appropriation of the space.
