Although in those parts which are not scratched by cracks the superficial finishing touch gives the work of art an aspect so delicate, it contrasts with the raw matter inside. The progressive disintegration of this last version of “Involucro” resembles a private shell violently deprived of its content. The external armour has performed its task and the living essence inside has changed its shape and substance, leaving behind the shadow of its past. The stylistic form is intentionally static and closed to symbolise the absence of intellectual dynamism of the contemporary age. The figure provides a symbol of the current society, contrasting, for absence of movement, more important historical periods of great cultural enthusiasm.
