CONTEMPORARY LOCATION
"Contemporary", after having been set up, in the first editions, in the Cloister and Museum of San Francesco in Tagliacozzo (13th and 15th centuries) and in the premises of the Villa Bella building (nautical-sports complex, built in the Fascist era and designed by the great architect Enrico del Debbio, author of the Foro Italico), has found its headquarters in the prestigious Palazzo Ducale Orsini-Colonna, in the heart of the historic city center.

The building that already existed in the first half of the fourteenth century, as shown in a document by Orso Orsini dated 20 April 1336, was originally very different from the current structure which, over the centuries, has undergone several enlargements and alterations that they have modified its original appearance. During the 15th century, Count Roberto Orsini completed the work by building the second floor of the building.

It was beginning in 1467 that the Colonnas, who in the meantime had become feudal lords with the title of dukes of Tagliacozzo and most of the Marsica lands, eliminated many of the decorative elements that recalled the ousted Orsini, replacing them with others that exalted family coats of arms and mottos.

In the eighteenth century the flight of stairs between the first and second floors and the entrance portal were built by the Colonna family. In the Fascist era, the staircase of honor and other major restoration works were carried out which further modified the appearance of the structure and due to which some rooms and related murals of mythological content were eliminated.

The Colonna family remained the owners of the stately building until the first half of the 19th century. It was followed by the ownership of the Barberini-Corsinis, under Fascism that of the GIL, and finally that of the Abruzzo Region. Currently the managing body is the Municipality of Tagliacozzo.

The south-western wing of the Palace, an already proven location for the artistic event, is spread over about 1000 square meters of restored rooms. The internal walls are painted white, with an antique terracotta floor and coffered typical of the historic noble palaces of the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. In addition to the large windows, it has fixed museum artificial lighting, which makes the lighting homogeneous, suitable for displaying works of art. The exhibition rooms are easily adaptable to any needs of the artists.
