Deimatico is a project about fear. In the animal kingdom, deimatic behavior is in fact a display of threat aimed at scaring, intimidating or even just distracting its predators. They extend their thorns not in offense but in defense.
The work tells the different layers of this urgency: the need for protection, the desire to become an animal, the aggressiveness aimed at its own preservation, the camouflaged insecurity. Finally, a real skin, with all its thorns still attached, tells us about uncovering and exposing ourselves, about removing the layer of thorns and fears in order to live with our fragile and corruptible body.
What we see in this action is the Ecdysis, the process of shedding the old skin following an enormous physical and emotional effort to offer our most vulnerable part.
