“Milan, yes. But it could have been the square of any other city. Maybe “your” city?”
Everyone absorbed in their own thoughts, a disjointed community but united in social media, socially antisocial. Because we show photos of ourselves, we give opinions, we comment on everything and everyone, and then we don’t have the courage to talk to the people next to us, we don’t even look at them or we don’t even apologize if we bump into them while walking.
We ask for “friendship”, one after the other, like cherries, and we spit out comments like stones. In the end, on social media we can be who we want, we can appear as we want, because in the real world you have to have the courage to be who you are, but it’s not easy. So head down on the phone while we scroll through the stories of people we don’t even know and walk towards our “goal”.
The criticism is not aimed at social media, but at those who think they can find the answers to their sociality in that world.
