"Eudoxia", acrylic on canvas, 60 cm x 80 cm, year 2023, a unique work, aims to tell the story of the city and the carpet in which its true form is contemplated. The city that is actually a double city, the one above, with its golden and amber hues, and the one below, where shades of white and gray predominate, separate yet intrinsically connected. The deep blues of the background are meant to evoke distance and mystery and to suggest that true Eduoxia can never be fully understood or achieved except through its representation. The gray and white buildings emerge as specters of a once-great city, while human figures, black, faceless shadows, wander among them, symbolizing inhabitants lost in the folds of time and history. The golden element, a square sun, almost a divine light or sacred aura, alludes to the other Eduossia, the ideal and imagined city, where "everyone can find hidden among the arabesques an answer, the tale of his life, the turns of destiny." The duality of many of the invisible cities also emerges in this work. In the words of the oracle narrated by Calvin: "One of the two objects, - was the response, - has the form that the gods gave to the starry sky and the orbits on which the worlds revolve; the other is an approximate reflection of it, like every human work."
