"Stone XL" is a participatory performance action through which Bahar experiments and shares with the audience the "weight of memory." Lying on the floor, Bahar invites the audience present to lighten or weigh down her helpless body through the placement or removal of some stones: the stone, in its materiality represents, precisely, the weight that the past, negative memories and memories have on each individual.
The Other can play a role as facilitator or amplifier of tensions, blocks and emotional states, exactly as it happens to Bahar during the performance. The stones are made by the artist from papier-mâché, using newspaper sheets containing negative news stories, demonstrating how the public and social sphere also influences the psychological/physical well-being of each individual.
