In this painting lovers are caught in the woods in a moment of intimacy. They are in an Edenic landscape, in harmony with nature, out of time. I used very vivid colours and vibrant brush strokes to convey the idea of light and to give a lively exuberance to this scene of a paradise lost. They could be Adam and Eve, they could be people we know, the could be us, or just would-be lovers. The man is holding a liana, some sort of attachment to the world and maybe signifying a little reluctancy to give in to love and be lost in it.
