Death is an integral part of life, despite this it is increasingly removed from everyday life. We seek immortality, aging and getting sick are not permitted options nowadays. The dying person is increasingly marginalized from social life, confined to hospitals or specialized facilities. You die alone, with the fear of death. The greatest contemporary taboo.
Cemeteries are dying. Places pervaded by silence and reflection, aimed at commemorating the deceased. They allow their memory to be immortalized. Funeral rituals have become rarer and the meaning and tradition of this place is being lost among the new generations. Many tombs no longer have visitors.
The images represent fragments of lives, moments, emotions. Anonymous presences. They are silhouettes out of context, censored. Their fate, common to all: death.
Monotype
Printing ink on photographic paper.
Eight prints 10x15 cm each.
