The work poses a reflection on the essence of the human being in contemporary society, that is: to have in order to be or to be in order to have? What is most important today? Are human beings always more inclined to have rather than to be or vice versa?
These are the reflections towards which the painting tries to push the observer.
Furthermore, the work also wants to highlight the contrast between the two concepts chromatically, using a strong contrast between having, symbolized by a gold background which recalls opulence and represents the precious metal, but also a religious icon, such as in a sort of reverence towards the materialism of having, contrasted instead with a dark blue background, a noble, deep and reflective colour, which reflects being in its deepest conceptual vision.
