The central design of the work is composed on the front of a basic feminine tailored bodice. It was made with recycled fabrics and then transformed using the TR Cutting technique, i.e. cutting and reconstruction.
The movement of the fabric due to the volume and drapery was fixed by hand stitches, to achieve the freeze frame. The bodice has been lined and machine-sewn against a blue velvet background.
This method lends itself to the creation of lines, movements and volumes as a further artistic step compared to the sartorial mastery of tailoring.
The functionality of the resulting product has therefore been transformed from a sartorial bodice into a work of art to be admired.
The inspiration came as an evocation of a personal memory of an exciting trip to Provence, during which the author had the opportunity to deepen her knowledge of the information of the artist Van Gogh, experiencing the beauty of the colors and light of these places that inspired many of her paintings.
Observing the suggestions of colors, shapes and movements, evoked by Van Gogh's painting "The Starry Night", the work "Suggestions" by Merilù Di Gregorio was born, a modest tribute to an international artist who has inspired and continues to inspire the new generations.
