In the heart of Portogruaro, hometown of Luigi Russolo, pioneer of Futurist sound art, stands an installation that pays homage to the movement that revolutionized the concept of space, time and dynamism in art: “The Fourth Gate.”
It is a monumental structure of rigorous dimensions - 9x6x3 meters, all multiples of three - that evokes the mathematical and rhythmic concept so dear to the Futurists. The stark geometric form, characterized by a triangular opening that etches the surface like a caesura in space, symbolizes the transition between past and future, between the tradition of the Venetian city and its projection into an era of continuous transformation.
The bright color, dynamic cut and essential volumetry reflect the influence of the early 20th century avant-garde, translating into architecture and contemporary art the language of speed and energy typical of Futurism. “The Fourth Gate” is not just a work to be admired, but an experiential architecture to be walked through, a gateway that invites the public to cross the threshold of conventional perception to immerse themselves in a new spatial and conceptual dimension.
An innovative and bold tribute to Russolo and Futurism, in a city that continues to inspire dialogues between history and the avant-garde.
