“Of Mice and Men” 2018 - 90x60x40 - Movement with Arduino board, wood, iron, 3D printing - Fuck Steinbeck Series n°2
This installation is part of the Arduino Boards series, which includes other moving works. It is inspired by the famous book by John Steinbeck, precisely from the title (in turn it belongs to the "Fuck-Steinbeck" series. It analyzes the fact that John Steinbeck after the Nobel Prize, is criticized by many for a "softening" of the subsequent contents of his books).
The small animal is protected by a sort of straitjacket and a Hannibal Lecter-style mask. It is caressed by two hands that move automatically.
The protagonist of the novel is a very strong and good man who loves animals but, when he caresses them, he inadvertently kills them.
This causes him an upheaval that will lead him to a premature end.
If this is the case and this is the lesson, you have to know how to defend your "excessive goodness".
