“Madre” manifests as a bio-mechanical body that contains an undefined inner universe. Its form recalls a synthetic womb, a custodian of memory, origin and nourishment, yet its operation is that of an autonomous and sensitive sound device. Microphones and sensors capture minimal acoustic and environmental variations, sending the signal to a real-time processing system that filters, compresses and modulates it into deep and mid-bass frequencies. These are then emitted through speakers and exciters that set elastic membranes and lightweight structures into vibration, generating subtle physical micro-movements perceived as an internal breathing of the device.

The visitor, immersed in total darkness, sees nothing but perceives each sonic breath as a movement of the body itself: sound is no longer a mere acoustic emission, but vibrating matter that shapes space and passes through the body. The system operates as a closed, self-regulating circuit in which the environment is continuously captured, transformed and returned as sonic and kinetic vibration, producing states of stillness, accumulation or saturation.

In this way, sound becomes landscape, matter and vital pulsation, while the device continues to function even in apparent latency, maintaining a constant and autonomous activity. “Madre” thus challenges the boundaries between artifice and nature, transforming listening into a corporeal, intimate and generative experience in which the machine seems to assert its own life through the incessant rhythm of its vibrations.
Sound installation. Mixed media using iron, expanded polyurethane foam, silicone, resin, fabric, exciters, cables, PC, real-time sampling software, microphone, multichannel amplifier.
Unique work. Iron support structure.
