This modular light installation is composed of backlit glass plates printed with plotter-printed images. The work explores the profound connection between humans, nature, and waste—both naturally occurring and artificially produced.
The theme of waste is explored in a novel way: the scraps, initially selected and separated, are mixed, processed, enlarged, and analyzed until their hidden essence is revealed. This research, halfway between alchemy and desecration, translates into the creation of organic and inorganic micro-fragments, fixed on small acetate rectangles and mounted on 24x36 mm slide frames. These fragments are then highlighted with natural dyes and glues.
The resulting images, illuminated from behind, are photographed and digitized, without any alteration using artificial intelligence: light plays a central role in this process. Visual microcosms emerge, revealing particles interacting with light like reversible films, generating surprising shapes and plays of color. These images are then printed on glass and inserted into modular metal boxes.
The aim of the work is to give new visibility to materials commonly considered waste—such as microplastics and food residues—often discarded during the production process. Through their artistic and visual transformation, the aim is to symbolically interrupt the chain of waste and dispersion, redefining the very meaning of waste.
The installation aims to stimulate reflection on the global relationship with food: on the one hand, excess, pleasure, obsession, and waste in industrialized countries; on the other, hunger and scarcity in many parts of the world, where wars and famines threaten survival. Food, thus, becomes not only nourishment, but also an act of love and care for oneself and others.
The light of the work symbolizes a rebirth, a new life within a dreamy world reminiscent of the Earth. However, this world is also a trap: a metal box that represents the reality of our waste. We produce, but at the same time we destroy. There is no escape, except to ignite a small, bright and colorful universe within us, capable of awakening awareness and change.
Luminous Glass Plates/Composites
Micro-paintings of organic and inorganic materials printed on glass, plotter printed, alongside examples of various painted slides from which the prints are made. Plate dimensions: 26 x 0.3 x 26 cm.
