The work features three matchboxes containing a printed miniature of the entire Inferno cantica from Dante’s
Divine Comedy.
The process involves an initial phase of text miniaturization, followed by the meticulous printing of the entire
cantica on all four sides of individual wooden matches.
The reference to fire is twofold: both through the subject
matter of the selected text, and the matches’ inherent potential for combustion and the emission of light.
This impossibility—of ignition and illumination—is
preserved within a display case, resting on a hexagonal
base that recalls the shape of a lighthouse.
