This diptych consists of two works realized in acrylic on paper. The Venuses are represented here as fragmented, symbolizing the precariousness of our present and expressing the hope that our vulnerabilities might emerge, finally allowing us to be authentic.
The Venus of Identity explores the tension between personal and cultural identity: who are we truly? How much is our essence influenced by the context in which we live? Through a reinterpretation of the classical canon, the body breaks apart, becoming a metaphor for a complex individuality. Here, fragmentation is not synonymous with breakage, but with enrichment: every piece represents a part of ourselves born from an experience or an encounter.
The Venus of Error reflects instead on human fallibility in an era that denies the right to make mistakes. Since our very identity is born from error itself, the work draws from the motto "errare humanum est" to investigate the psychological weight of the mistake and the freedom that stems from its acceptance.
