The origin of the word Ho’Oponopono can be found in the Hawaiian islands and literally translates as “putting things back where they belong”. According to Ho’Oponopono begging forgiveness for an error committed transforms the negative energy that we have created into positive energy. The energy is renewed and is represented in another form.
If we let our gaze run over the drawing and we follow the words that go to composing the mathematical symbol of the infinite, we always come back to where we started from.
Here resides the beauty of this symbol that, like a mantra is cyclic and is only broken by our wish to stop looking at it. The mantra of the Ho’Oponopono repeats the words “I love you, I am sorry, Forgive me, Thank you” and it can be read and repeated over and over infinite times. Penelope’s work is accompanied by the birth stars of the person possessing the artwork. The principle of the union between the person and the cosmos that is always present in Penelope’s artistic research becomes part of this decision. Research in tune with the philosophical principles of the Ho’Oponopono: everything that we perceive, feel and observe has been produced by us and our energy. This energy is nothing other than an extension and expression of the energy of the cosmos.

This StarGate is part of a more extensive project: a series on world religions. The project, in which various works of different spiritualities and religions are part, wants to show and emphasise the differences contained in an anthropological reflection on the need to answer the human being’s existential questions. Where do we come from? Where did life originate? Where are we going? What exists after death? These questions have existed for as long as humans have, they are architypes of an unconscious that we call “collective” The different answers of different cultures are what defines the character of a religion. The artist dives deep into the world of spirituality looking for points of contact beyond differences without taking a position beyond that of the observer.
