''a capuzzella co' chiuove 'n capa - series: Naples -
(perforated red brick, aluminum lamp holder, wooden square, nail, dental cast. ) - unique piece
My Naples, how wonderful, always surrounded by the energies of nature: the generating mountain, the sea that sings and plays, the fire under the stones. And then the afterlife, the mystery that scares but from which one asks for help. The cult of souls (pezzentelle and otherwise) is as old as the dawn of time. In every place on earth the kingdom of the living (so to speak) has turned a careful eye to the kingdom of the dead but in Naples the thing has become an inextinguishable cult, I would say eternal. Well, from now on I also have my capuzzella to take care of and to ask for something that the living cannot give. I found this thing that looked like a piece of red perforated brick half buried in the sand of Baia, another place rich in underground stories and magic but I had to wait a while before it recovered and spoke to me. I did what it asked, I placed it on a small dedicated pedestal and I gave it back its obsession. An obsession that not even death could erase, that was revealed to me by the capuzzella and that I will never ever reveal. Mine is a blood pact with the kingdom of the differently alive. I am the guardian.
“'a capuzzella is a wonderful work.
It left me speechless when I saw it.
Archaic, visionary.
So alive or "differently alive".
A ruin, Roman villa, underground, remains, holes, grin.
Interruption of time
Vision in the infinite eternal instant.
And the nail
breaks, precipitates the vision, making it collapse.
The obsession. Against death?
What you don’t want to reveal.” A.D.V.
