Disused polyethylene pipes, car body fragments, on welded iron mesh - Single work
We spend our lives in a continuous attempt to oppose Entropy, with provisional and in any case irrelevant results, compared to the irreversible chaos toward which the Universe tends.
Yet there is a fascination, for those who can grasp it, in the decay and collapse of matter.
Within contemporary art, it is often disorder and disequilibrium that generate the most powerful images, in antithesis to the order and harmony that made classical art immortal.
Woven between the modular meshes of a wire mesh is a tangle of salvaged materials, which tend to rarefy in free fall. Worn polyethylene irrigation pipes, still able to arrange themselves in harmonious curves, gradually lose their grip, sliding to the ground.
Fragments of crashed car bodywork creep between their coils triggering, and perhaps accelerating, the inevitable thermodynamic process proper to Entropy.
