Sofronia is made up of two half-cities, one fixed, the other temporary, and when the time of its stay is over, Calvino tells us, they unmake it, disassemble it, and take it away, to plant it in the vague grounds of another half-city. Man like Calvino's double cities, man seen through Borges' mirrors.
