In "Avanguardie", Fontana synthesizes his investigation into the transmutation of sound into matter through an installation that eschews ornament to become pure structure. The work consists of three plaster elements.
The artist explores the "sound act" as a fossil footprint: the plaster is no longer an inert surface, but a membrane that has absorbed and crystallized a vibration. The irregular textures, rich in roughness and voids, become the visual transcription of a rhythm that has ceased to be acoustic to become volume.
The title suggests a lookout position, a proceeding beyond the limits of the visible; however, these "vanguards" do not shout, but rather safeguard the silence.
Technique: Plaster cast
Edition: Unique piece
Support: Iron frame with wooden base
