The work is part of an artistic project—conceived and developed in collaboration with the Academy of Fine Arts of L'Aquila—that explores diverse media, ranging from sculpture and video to performance art. The sculpture "Cartografia dell’esilio amoroso" (Cartography of Amorous Exile) emerged as a direct result of the latter.
Executed in grey 3D-printed resin, the piece simulates a small-scale funerary monument. The subject is a faithful reproduction of a text by Roland Barthes, in which the concepts of the couple, love, and relationships are presented as a persistent, failing inquiry. The lilies resting upon the pages of the book allude to a mourned love and the ephemeral, fleeting memory of passion—a cut flower rendered motionless in time.
