Oil on canvas. This work is the result of long hours spent with old photographs, trying to find the thread that
connects who I was to who I’ve become. It’s a quiet attempt to honour that early version of
myself, not with nostalgia alone, but with recognition and even reverence. Self-portraiture, here,
becomes less about depiction and more about reclamation.
The process was very intimate, at times unsettling, and ultimately very tender. The work is an
attempt to allow my past self to meet me, and return my gaze.
