SOLASTALGIA

The motif of the sculpture alludes to solastalgia, the emotional or existential distress felt in the present as one undergoes a negative transformation of the place in which one lives. The formerly familiar environment becomes alien and threatening, causing discomfort, apathy, and even a loss of identity — transformations due to climate crisis, environmental degradation, and conflicts.
