OF MULTIPLICITIES – I bring diversity in space and time. series: Machines -
(iron grating for attic reinforcement, wood, clam shells already cooked and eaten, objects [photo of young Malacarne, colored wool puppet, Jack Daniel’s mignon, scorpion, bell, lava stone, jewels]) unique piece.
The idea that leads me to assemble the work that I called “OF MULTIPLICITIES”, this mirror machine, is based on the reading of the four lectures on Kant that Gilles Deleuze held in 1978 at Vincennes. In one of the lectures Deleuze recalls that: “… lights, colors, sounds etc. are the forms of the manifestation of diversity in space and time” and I impulsively added “I bring diversity in space and time”. Deleuze always reminds me that each of us is a composite of sensations, like a work of art and that therefore our singular eternal essences are nothing but wonderful compositions of colors, sounds, flavors, matter, etc. After a period of reflection I move on to the sculpture-object, which I decide to assemble using these materials: some wooden planks for the support base, a beautiful iron grate of at least 50 years old, part of a floor armature recovered during some renovation work, clam shells already cooked and eaten, 7 simulacrum objects.
I used the numerical sequence of the mathematician Fibonacci to calculate the position of the seven simulacrum objects inserted between the spaces occupied by the clams. To obtain the necessary compositional rhythm I also used 12 empty spaces.
