DERIVE-Vortex

This work addresses the phenomenon of so-called plastic islands, immense ocean vortices where currents concentrate millions of fragments of waste. Not landmass, but invisible continents made of microplastics, nets, and waste, spread across five major areas of the planet's oceans. Plastic, largely originating from land, does not disappear: it fragments, enters marine ecosystems and the food chain, transforming the sea into a toxic archive of our habits. The work invites us to reflect on a global landscape created by man, where the boundary between nature and waste is blurring.
