In the form of a double bas-relief, the diptych presents two figures, their bodies appearing transfigured and ethereal. It evokes an angelic, otherworldly passage. The supporting material—wood and terracotta—confirms a connection to the earth and the physical realm. Only the gold element brings us back to a courtly hint of the supernatural.
