Carrara marble sculpture and latex condom. (one-piece)

With this sculpture I wanted to address the theme of voluntary contagion and prevention.
In this regard I came up with the story of Pinocchio, by all known as the lying puppet who would just want to have fun, living in a world where everything is allowed.
The lies, however, have short legs and the love of his father Geppetto makes the puppet-baby return with his feet on the ground.
For some people HIV is considered a small disease, solvable with a pill just like a trivial flu; this false perception, coupled with an unregulated life – worthy of the Land of the Balots of Collodi's novel – generates terrible consequences, with a continuous spread of the virus, which sometimes becomes even voluntary and conscious.
With these sequences of lies, the nose gets longer and longer.
If we wanted to be mischievous then you could see this nose stretched like a penis on which I stuck a condom.
The presence of this contraceptive is very significant: it is a simple but fundamental object for the prevention of this virus, as well as from other sexually transmitted diseases. Even the choice of red color is not random because it is red just like the Red Ribbon, symbol of World AIDS Day and therefore a warning to keep high attention on a theme still too neglected and unknown.
