Futuro anteriore II reflects on the perception of time and human-robot interaction. The traffic light motif symbolizes the flow of time, perceived as passive waiting. But waiting for what? This traffic light cannot turn green, waiting is useless. Only the conscious perception of the flow of time allows us to understand the urgency of a situation and act. And it will always be humans who can act? What role will robots have and how will we live with them?
This work is part of the series Futuro anteriore I-IIII in which Elena Sterbini ironically reverses the timeline and in four tableaux presents current critical issues. In this series she refers to the archaic aesthetics of cave paintings.
Acrylic and acrylic ink on cotton canvas 400 gr, partly treated with fine structural paste for acrylic, frameless.
