I began to imagine the Guardians as creatures of a parallel dimension who observe the flow of people's actions with serene detachment. They are timeless entities, aware of the uselessness of any intervention on the actions of a humanity that is unable to learn from experience. They are impotent and mute Guardians, forced to leave people free to repeat their mistakes again and again. I have represented them in their simple, hieratic stillness, but with a compassionate benevolence and a chromatic vivacity that intends to be a residual message of hope.
