Destined for the nascent Museum of Contemporary Art dedicated to S. Sebastiano in Marigliano (NA). In
the final elaboration it is placed on a base of cm. 100X100x110.
In the past, many artists have dedicated themselves to creating images to tell the story of the sacrifice of
San Sebastiano. Just to name a few, Mantegna in 1480, Antonello da Messina more or less in the same
years, El Greco later. Young and handsome, only superficially pierced by those arrows which were not the
cause of his death, but an additional reason to continue spreading his faith.
And this is precisely the idea of the work. A reflection on tenacity and the possibility of continuing to
fight for what we believe in. I think it's a life lesson. Faith is a mystery, we don't know where it comes
from, we don't know why some people believe and others don't. But his story is a life lesson.
Are we willing to fight for what we believe in? To uphold our ideals? To work for our world to become
more right, loving and respectful of the nature of which we are a part?
