ink on cardboard, paint on canvas
"I plan to be forgotten when I'm gone" can be seen as a manifesto of my work. The perfect antithesis of every artist is to be forgotten. I don't think that a work has to survive the artist, as Anselm Kiefer says art will always survive its ruins.
My career as an exhibition designer has given rise to these reflections in me. Too many works locked in boxes too many forgotten works with the intention of preserving them over time by collectors, or museums.
For once, then, packaging cardboard will be the work to be shown. In fact, this cardboard is never packed, and it is ruined with time and paradoxically, it will certainly take on value over time.
I decided to make an edition of 10 of this writing, one every 5 years, each one will be a unique piece, because it won't be the same cardboard, made in the same field and in the meantime, surely, also the undersigned (as artist) will be changed and, consequently, I will see it in another way.
I present you the first version (1/10). The second one (2/10) was destroyed and thrown away by a art handler who didn't understand that this was the work presented for the exhibition. Perfect conclusion for my work!
I am reassured by the fate that something similar happened to the Campana brothers before me, they got high on a chair made of bubble wrap.
