Technique: Mirrored plastic sheet, mesh tape, scraper, and drypoint needle for engraving.
Description: This composition aims to explore the intriguing concept of the "non-place" in relation to the mirror, understood as a tool for contemplating one's image in an alternative context. Within this speculative dimension, the individual finds themselves immersed in a gradual dissolution of their distinctive characteristics and personal roles, emerging solely in the role of the observer. The mirror becomes a reflective canvas that gives life to an apparent copy, an entity that is not the self but assumes the physical features of the observer. This reflection offers the opportunity to scrutinize oneself from the outside, inviting self-analysis. The book introduces a fascinating journey of personal reconstruction or deconstruction, whose trajectory is shaped by the reader's initial choice. The object in question lends itself to reading from both its faces, underscoring the ambivalent nature of human existence, where on one side, one rebuilds oneself, and on the other, one breaks oneself. This dual concept prompts a profound introspective search, meditating on the current state of one's "self," considering the path taken in constructing individual identity up to that moment. This journey is distinguished by the multitude of experiences lived and decisions made, outlining the complex panorama of the reader's self-assessment.
