"Lay, molten lead, Galvanized steel rod
Lay was born after a residency in Iceland, during which I studied the form and behavior of certain oceanic algae capable of withstanding harsh environmental conditions through their flexibility and adaptability. I reinterpreted them and made them my own, reinventing a plaster matrix onto which I poured molten lead, a material equally adaptable but with its own 'weight,' its own significance, in an attempt to evoke how heroic it can sometimes be not only to resist but also to bend and accept the currents.
The work comes in variable dimensions, depending on the space occupied or the support used."
