"Italy is a country to be destroyed, a beautiful place, but useless, destined to die." (...)
"Here, everything remains still, the same, in the hands of dinosaurs. Listen to me,
leave."
(La meglio gioventù, 2003)
The project “L’ospite” was born out of the need to express the feeling of
non-belonging that is spreading among most young people in Italy, who are forced to
emigrate to find fortune. Over two hundred and fifty thousand people have left in the
past ten years, most due to the lack of job opportunities.
Like an unstoppable hemorrhage, more and more young people are detaching
themselves from their country, appearing selfish in the eyes of adults who perhaps do
not realize the pitch-black darkness surrounding the road to the future.
Generations leaving their place vacant, worn out by time and never again occupied,
abandoned, with no sense of belonging, reflecting the feelings of a young adult of the
twenty-first century.
