A reworking of the saying "holey hands," no longer holes that let money fall into your hands due to an inability to manage yourself, but a hole that prevents you from putting food on your plate, the lack of nourishment, both cultural and personal. It becomes an eye that draws attention to a specific object placed on the plate. The lack of space considered a home through the shell and an altered reality so that objects are freed from their proper function. A "toothless" fork, a napkin that is actually stone, a chalice for the blood of Christ, and a toothbrush with needles instead of bristles. After deciding what to nourish yourself with, you must carefully consider the words and thoughts you express, "washing your mouth."
The table goes from a domestic place to a space of awareness: plates, forks, and tablecloths stop serving and begin to tell a story. Objects like a chalice, a toothbrush, or a stone napkin become vehicles for reflection on the very act of nourishing oneself—not just food, but culture, thought, and words.
