"Overcoming the Anthropocene"
2023
Acrylic on canvas
100x80 cm
The cycle of paintings "Overcoming the Anthropocene" represents my current research in the field of painting. This production is part of the personal artistic discourse through two nodal points.
On the one hand the technical aspect. The paintings are the result of a journey that began in 2017 that led me from painting to collage, then to drawing with 3D pen, and now again to painting.
They are painted starting from the material extruded by the 3D pen, which, deposited on the surface of the canvas, stands in the way of the sudden gas jets of color generated by the airbrush. What remains is the testimony of an intermediate phase between the two-dimensional painting and the sculptural three-dimensionality of the material extruded by the pen, as if to highlight the trace, in negative, left by an entity that once inhabited the surface, but now he has abandoned it, freeing himself in space.
The other key point concerns the issue. This draws heavily from my artistic poetics, interested and engaged in a reflection on the urgencies of the contemporary in reference to the relationship between human, environment and the organisms that live there. Bruised images appear, pulsing, like fragments of an almost forgotten dream, in a sleepiness that tries to focus on a goal too fleeting to be remembered. They are hypotheses of overcoming the ecological crisis that we are experiencing through the concretization of a total and panic existence, and the deep interconnection between all things.
