The shape derives from the geometric structure called "ci- cloide" (from the Greek kykloeidés, kýklos "circle" and -oeidés "shape", i.e. it is made from a circle). It is the curve drawn by a fixed point on a circumference that rolls along a straight line; i.e. the design composed of a point on a moving bicycle wheel. The shape is sinuous and morbid, even though it is structurally solid and self-supporting. The curves make it dynamic and pressing, suggesting the idea of motion that is at the basis of the whole exhibition's philosophy. Like the character of Nadja, the woman loved by A. Breton, the sculpture is fascinating, yet elusive and fast.
