This painting is composed of a first layer of strips of canvas chipped on the second layer of canvas in neo and ocher color chipped in turn on a background of wooden planks colored partly ocher and partly (that which concerns the figure) gold in colour. On these layers of canvas an androgynous figure is represented which is composed of various overlapping layers with attached cuts from which the red color comes out and from which the gold of the background can be glimpsed which symbolizes the true value of being oneself.
This work aims to represent the problem relating to the non-acceptance of one's body through the representation of an androgynous figure made up of slippered pieces of canvas. In fact, chipping itself represents something painful given that one tries to build an ideal body instead of accepting one's own body, or rather one's nature, which is represented in a symbolic way by the wood. The same wood covered in gold symbolizes how precious one's body is and should not be ruined, patched and scarred just to follow social standards but should be accepted for what it is, i.e. gold.
