"Giulio Polloniato’s room is the poetic transposition of a fact: the clay, recovered from the Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto quarry, is a semi-hidden treasure beneath the urban landscape. Giulio Polloniato treats the clay like a skin, discovering, for the first time, the possibility of its crudeness: he covers the Art Nouveau-style decorated floor of the room with a thin slab of raw earth and then scrapes a parallelepiped from the whole, directing the visitor’s gaze towards that underlying surface. Those who enter will find themselves looking at that geometric decoration of the tiles with the joints encrusted with clay as if it were the true discovery of a second floor at the center of the work. In one corner, the ceramic mop, together with the helmets/earphones hanging on the wall, refer to manual labor, to creation, to the ambiguity of reality and reveal the randomness of the moment".
