Ontological Mom represents my mother’s garments. Her death triggered the need to explore grief through creativity, which is what motivated my research.
What I propose is looking at her femininity through the clothes that allow its social expression: a bathing suit, which exposes the body even of the most reserved women; an undergarment, recalling a more sophisticated sensuality; an apron – barely visible – reminiscent of the household dimension. Past its guise, be it private or public, remains the naturality of being a woman: the green oil pastel partially defining the bathing suit is a symbolic representation of that.
