In April 2021, the EU delegation meets the Turkish president in Ankara. In the presidential palace, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan seats the President of the European Council Charles Michel next to him, leaving the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen on a sofa.
Yet another authoritarian public gesture that once again lays the groundwork for an explicit policy of violence against women.
The acceptance of acts like this in everyday life, public and private, forms the foundation of a patriarchal-violent mentality.
