Existence is not a given. At times it requires insistence, resistance, almost a form of self-consumption to leave a mark. In this performance, a word is written on a wall using a finger, repeated over and over: fare (“to do”). At first, nothing is visible—only a gesture, a repeated movement. Then, slowly, something changes. Friction begins to carve into the surface, the skin gives way, the finger burns. And when it starts to bleed, the word appears.
No ink is used only the body, time, and fatigue. Because a mark is never immediate; it must be earned. As in life: sometimes, to truly exist, one must persist, even when it hurts.
