This second version of the installation highlights the progressive ecocide of nature in all its forms, prompting reflection on environmental degradation and the irreversible costs of human exploitation.
Server the Planet II is an installation that intertwines technology, inorganic materials, and natural elements, creating a symbiotic relationship. At its core is an aluminum rack that exclusively houses the skeletons of obsolete servers, repurposed to emphasize the structure. Plants and minerals symbolize the environmental impact of raw material extraction, while the monolithic rack, enriched with organic elements, evokes a sense of sacredness.
The structure is immersed in a tank of seawater that has now evaporated and become polluted, containing dead sea urchins and corals as symbols of the marine ecosystem's decline. This connection to marine life also recalls the damage that ongoing rare earth extraction is inflicting on the ocean floors.
