The photographic project investigates the relationship between visual and acoustic landscapes through the superimposition of photographs and spectrograms obtained from environmental recordings (field recordings) of the port of Crotone. The sounds of the place—wind, creaks, movements of the boats—are translated into visual form, becoming graphic textures that emerge on the images as “sound spectra,” invisible traces revealed by sound.
In this dialogue, photography, in its stillness, embraces the movement of sound; sound, in its temporality, finds a fixed form in photography.
Sound photograph. Gel ink print on Fujifilm Silk paper with sound spectrograms. Iron support. Unique work.
