Assemblage of salvaged objects made of metal, plastic and rubber - Single work
"SPRINT” is not an invitation to acceleration (of futurist memory), but an exhortation to face without delay, the planetary drama of the dissipation of our habitat and its resources.
It is a sculpture-painting, suitable for wall-hanging, but lacking the background support: an assemblage of heterogeneous elements, firmly concatenated, that seem to move in unison, but each according to its own whim, poised between chaos and harmony.
The fulcrum of the composition is a bicycle wheel, around which orbits a series of salvaged objects: colored fragments of car bodies, polyethylene pipes already used for irrigation, the chain of the same discarded bicycle, and other finds of dubious origin.
The reuse and enhancement of waste in an artistic key is posed as an ecological and anti-consumer message, to which the wheel, a witness par excellence to alternative means of transportation, validly contributes in terms of sustainability. The old oxidized handle, the barycenter of the composition, suggests the hope of access to a new reality, which will see the urgently needed change of course realized.
