Studio #8
In "Studio #8", Davide Fontana shifts his investigation toward the rhythmic and temporal dimension of the mark. While in previous works graphite operated through saturation, here the drawing functions as a mapping of frequencies: a methodical alternation of thickening and thinning that translates the "sound act" into a discontinuous visual sequence.
The work explores the concepts of "pause" and "interval" transposed into the plastic realm. The mark does not seek mass; instead, it acts as a vibration that etches the support at irregular intervals, mimicking the beat and breath of an evoked presence. Graphite becomes the tool for measuring the timing of the action; each stroke is an autonomous trace that does not describe an object but testifies to the persistence of a gesture within the void of the paper. In "Studio #8", the paper ceases to be a mere supporting plane and becomes a resonance space, where the graphic residue fixes the memory of a silent score, transforming the fragility of carbon into a visual structure charged with ontological tension.
Technique: Graphite on paper
Edition: Unique piece
Support: Frame with hooks on the back
