Painting on canvas - ZIP #4 is the manifesto piece of the series, where the very concept of the painting is called into question. The frame—usually a marginal element—becomes the absolute protagonist here: material, gilded, and incised like an ancient trace, it merges with the painted surface to assert its centrality. The inner red, deep and vibrant, appears as a restrained presence, almost a precious wound enclosed within a sacred container.
The work reflects on the boundary between artwork and support, between what is inside and what remains outside, overturning visual hierarchy. It is an invitation to observe where content ends and structure begins.
The painting is the frame. Or perhaps, the frame is the true painting.
